CSUN Sustainability Garden

Objective

Advance environmental and food justice by renovating the Institute for Sustainability's garden. Brand this garden as a separate space away from other campus gardens, while staying consistent with the client's brand identity.

Process

Conceptualize and provide a style guide of the garden's brand identity, while including visual assets and creative solutions to attract visitors.

Growing Accessible Resources for Diversity, Education, and Nourishment

Through our platform of education, research, programming, and community integration, the Institute for Sustainability seeks to address our local, regional, and global ecological challenges. Our approach incorporates a broad range of knowledge systems including traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), local ecological knowledge (LEK), and western science to educate the CSUN community and the community it serves. Our mission and staff are committed to advancing environmental and food justice. Without environmental equity, there can be no sustainability.

In addition, during an alignment meeting for the garden, the client enjoyed the concept of the garden being a hub/community space similar to a beehive. Therefore to include the beehive concept, I added a hexagon as a honeycomb to the style guide.
